The chat and RPG forum I've been working on is ready to launch! It combines a chat forum with three RPGs, one science fiction based on Chris Walley's "Lamb Among the Stars" trilogy, one fantasy RPG of my own storyline, and an anything goes anime/superhero RPG.

Come check it out!

The Joys of being owned by a Maine Coon!

The popularity of the breed with the cat-loving public has been no less of a success. But then, those of us close to these cats are entirely unsurprised by this. The Maine Coon has to be about THE best family cat ever (not that we're biased, or anything!)
The kittens are, in general, large and sturdy and have the attitude, within a very short time of moving into their new home: 'Well - here I am. Where's lunch? Where are my toys? Where's dinner? What's keeping you?'

Naturally inquisitive, playful yet not destructive, independent yet affectionate, they are the clowns of the cat world - and not just as kittens. The lack of destructive intent becomes even more of an advantage when the playfulness is indulged by a 15lb adult.... who has quite forgotten how big and, more importantly, how old he is! Many Maines will even play happily for hours, while you throw a paper ball for them and they bring it back and you throw it, and they bring it back and.... But never be deceived by the clown-like antics. A big Maine Coon may appear soppy and daft but he is generally very far from it. This is a very good-natured and intelligent cat - he just chooses when to behave as if he were a fool!

Oh, and we mustn't forget the voice! Along with this clownish behaviour goes this other completely endearing and very unexpected characteristic. Not for this cat the common-or-garden meow. It comes as a great surprise to hear the gentle trilling, chirruping noise typical of the Maine Coon, coming from such a substantial animal. It is quite individual to the breed and instantly recognisable.

In short - and in the words of a great many owners - to share one's life with a Maine Coon is not just a joy. It is a positive privilege. But reader beware - to share with several may eventually feel like a necessity!

Yesterday I spent all day at the Atlanta Job Fair. It was a big mess. The line to get in was 45 minutes long. And there didn't seem to be any air conditioning. I did talk to the lady with TeachGeorgia, and she said that if I passed the Praxis II in ESOL, she would definately find a spot for me.

Then I spent 2 hours waiting for the bus outside and got a terrible sunburn. However, I had a lovely conversation with a man named Sydney who had traveled all over the world while he worked for TWA, and also knew a bit of Japanese. We talked for about an hour. I met several other interesting people: a lady who taught ESL in Paris, a couple from Athens who just found out they're expecting their first child, and another lady who wanted to sell cars. Although it was a bit of a pain, we had a good time talking to one another.

Congratulations Daniel and Kathleen! I pray you have a joy-filled marriage!

Family and Friends,

As you know Daniel and Kathleen are engaged to be married.
What you may not know is that the wedding day is September 22, 2005. That
is only three days away! You also may not know that we are not having a
wedding ceremony here in town, we have chosen to go with a more elopement
style wedding/honeymoon. However, since this is the 21st Century you can
still participate in our small (just the two of us) wedding ceremony taking
place in Las Vegas! Our wedding will be available for viewing, live, via
web cam on an Internet site that I will give you shortly. Also, a few days
after the wedding you will still be able to access the wedding ceremony on
the same website as it will be archived for ninety days.

We hope you will join us! Thank you for your prayers and all your
encouragements and congratulations! We love you and look forward to sharing
all about our honeymoon adventure when we return (which is October 6th).

All of our Love,
Daniel and Kathleen

Happy 28th Birthday, Chris

Monday, September 12, 2005

OK, well, today I made a wand for my Tonks costume. It's pretty much done except for some sanding and varnish. Yes, I carved it myself. Maybe I'll get ambitious and post a pic of it.

I AM BORED. I need a job desperately, or I am going to drive myself crazy. I can't keep sitting at home every day. But every job avenue proves futile. I just don't know what else to do.

Also got back on Eat Right 4 Your Type this weekend. I don't know why I ever stopped. My headaches get better, I have lots of energy, and I eat as much as I want.

Tomorrow is my brother's 28th birthday. We celebrated last night with lobster and artichokes. Wednesday, Chris leaves for his job in Tennessee, which will keep him there for about a year. Just my dad and I in the house. Ugh. It's gonna suck....
